A UNIQUENESS OF CULTURE & NATURE

15 Mar 2024 - 19 Jul 2024

The arts and culture landscape in Zimbabwe is replete with a rich history that is unparalleled by high standards. It is an expression of originality and creativity that has been compared to the best in the world, yet with the freshness and vitality characteristic of juvenescence, inscribed in the pre-colonial era. Despite this richness, the arts and culture spaces often remain unappreciated. The Symposium was an attempt to celebrate this incredible landscape with an exposition that seeks to learn, evolve, and provide exposure and opportunities for its primary participants, while also motivating secondary audiences to explore and engage with the program.

Innovating Art Spaces to International Standards

The move to innovate art spaces to international standards is based on the belief that collective international exposure is ripe with discoveries and knowledge. This skillset can be passed down to younger generations, creating a ripple effect that lasts many generations through the exchange and sharing of different arts and cultures. The impact of this exposure enables artists from Zimbabwe to garner opportunities beyond our borders, cascading to other artists as the program grows.

Exhibition: A Product of the Symposium

This exhibition is the product of the Symposium, showcasing a selection of artworks created during the event. These pieces are displayed, celebrated, questioned, critiqued, analyzed, and most importantly, enjoyed. The result is a shared experience that sets the tone for each artist’s improvement, motivating them to positively impact their communities locally and the broader arts space.

A Shared Experience of Growth and Community Impact

The exhibition creates a platform for artists to share their work and experiences, fostering a sense of community and collaboration. By engaging with this exhibition, visitors contribute to the ongoing dialogue about the value and impact of arts and culture in Zimbabwe and beyond. This shared experience not only enriches the artists but also the audience, encouraging a deeper appreciation and support for the arts.
